Fostering a Safer, Fairer Workplace: Just Culture in Action at ADJV

At Acciona-DL E&C Joint Venture (ADJV), we believe that safety is not just a set of procedures, it is a shared responsibility grounded in trust, fairness, and continuous learning. This belief is reflected in our commitment to a Just Culture, where individuals are encouraged to speak up, learn from challenges, and take part in building safer systems for everyone.

Our June 2025 safety theme, “Report. Learn. Improve – Just Culture in Action,” reflects this commitment. It is more than a slogan—it is a mindset that guides how we respond to incidents, how we support one another, and how we grow together as a team.

Report – Encouraging Openness Without Fear

In a Just Culture, reporting is not about assigning blame, it is about protecting people. At ADJV, we encourage all team members, regardless of role or rank, to speak up when they see something unsafe or when something doesn’t go as planned. Reporting is viewed not as a weakness, but as a strength—a sign of care for one’s colleagues and commitment to the team. We are working to ensure that every voice is heard and that concerns are met with respect, not retribution.

Learn – Understanding the “Why” Behind the “What”

Every report we receive is an opportunity to learn—not only about what happened, but why it happened. We take time to understand the context, the pressures, and the systems that may have contributed to an incident. This approach allows us to move beyond surface-level fixes and toward meaningful insights. Learning becomes a collective effort, grounded in curiosity, empathy, and a shared desire to improve—not in fear or judgment.

Improve – Turning Insight into Safer Practice

Learning must lead to action. At ADJV, we are committed to translating lessons into tangible improvements, whether that means adjusting how scaffolding is installed, enhancing training on equipment use, or revisiting project timelines to reduce unnecessary risk. These changes are not just procedural, they are personal. They reflect our responsibility to protect one another and to ensure that everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.

Just Culture is not about being lenient—it is about being fair. It is about holding us accountable in a way that strengthens trust, encourages transparency, and drives continuous improvement. At ADJV, we are proud to be putting Just Culture into action—not just this month, but every day.
