The annual celebration of Earth Day encouraged global organizations across different sectors to raise awareness of Climate Change and promote Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development through campaigns, video screenings, and other environmentally related activities. This year, ADJV marked its 4th Earth Day Celebration by showing documentaries [from April 20-24] on the causes, effects, and mitigation of climate change in the reception area. ADJV EMU also gauged employees' environmental awareness through the “Earth Quiz,” awarding prizes to staff members who answered correctly. These activities aim to raise awareness of the adverse impacts of our anthropogenic activities and the actions we can take to help fight climate change and global warming.

A Carbon Literacy Lecture was also conducted for selected departmental representatives to echo the Carbon Literacy Certification Training provided by ACCIONA.org Foundation. The goal is to inspire a shift in the participant’s mindset regarding how our lifestyles can impact the Earth —that, no matter how small, if taken collectively, they will have a big impact.

As a finale to the weeklong activities, the environmental team focused on promoting sustainable and responsible tourism, engaging the community, and emphasizing the importance of environmental protection, while maximizing positive economic, cultural, and livelihood impacts for residents who rely on tourism and fishing. Volunteers from CP-N02 collaborated with representatives from Barangay to collect litter along the beach of Brgy. La Paz, San Narciso, Zambales and transfer the segregated Biodegradable, Recyclable, and Residual waste to the Barangay's Materials Recovery Facility. To support this initiative, tarpaulins and billboards containing information on proper waste management were strategically placed along the beach. These provided tourists and the community with details about policies and ordinances regarding solid waste management. This activity aligns with ADJV's project-wide campaign to reduce plastic waste that can harm marine species when improperly disposed of. ADJV emphasized stewardship and accountability, not only from the LGU but also from stakeholders, promoting the idea that every day should be a celebration of Earth Day.
